A Secret Mission
The continuing adventures of Cisco, GS Dakotas Secret Mission
Great Weekend at TAG
This weekend was TAG’s agility trial in Sterling. I wasn’t sure how Cisco was going to do as I wasn’t convinced he was feeling all that good — allergies have been really bad around here for everyone lately and Cisco had had some ground beef a couple of days before which was two instant ear infections for him.
The weekend started with Gamblers. I love when USDAA trials start with gamblers as it gives us a chance to get all the craziness out early — usually we don’t qualify in gamblers because we’re wild. This weekend was different and Cisco came in third place in PI gamblers.
In standard, we had a gorgeous run going and then Cisco bailed on the teeter. Cisco hasn’t bailed on a teeter in a long time. I’m not sure what was up with that, but we had a great run going until then. In performance speed jumping we had a good run going — the weaves were a little pokey the first time around, but overall wasn’t bad. I put him in the wrong end of the tunnel and then our second time through the weaves, they were much faster until he popped out.
We ended the day with PI Pairs. Cisco got the half with the teeter,he ran past it, but I was able to turn him around and put him back on and he did it. They qualified and got 3rd place.
Sunday started with standard. Cisco’s run wasn’t pretty (thank goodness refusals are harder to get in USDAA), but he managed to qualify (only one in his height to qualify so he got 1st place). That’s his second starters standard leg. Next was snooker and I messed us up. I didn’t support where we were heading enough and he took an off course a-frame, but hey, he had a great time which is what I love to see from him.
We ended the day with jumpers (which I think is Cisco’s favorite agility class — no contacts or weaves). He was smokin’! Cisco finished the course in 22.17 seconds — almost 10 seconds under course time! He finished in 1st place 22” PI jumpers.
Overall a great weekend and we hit our contacts every time!
